Your Home Away From Home

What Is It?

The Burn House is a private dwelling intended to be "Your Home Away From Home". The House serves the needs of the spouses, family members or significant others of out of town patients undergoing treatment for burn injuries.

The House provides a friendly, relaxing, nonsmoking atmosphere. The House is bright and modern with a living room, dining room and kitchen. It has two bedrooms; each can be locked for your safety and privacy. One bedroom has a double bed, the other a double bed with above single bunk. There is a shared bathroom complete with a soaker tub. All bedding and towels are provided. An on-site laundry is included for your convenience.

The surroundings are comfortable with a lovely yard for outdoor enjoyment.

The Burn House was started by the Firefighters Burn Fund Victoria, BC as a "Labour of Love" and officially opened its doors September 2, 1996. The Burn House was purchased entirely through the contributions from citizens of the Greater Victoria area.

Since the House has limited space, priorities have been established:

Families of burn patients only.

Those with no financial support (i.e. WCB, ICBC).

Those farthest away with no family or friends in town.

Patients needing out patient assessment or therapy immediately following discharge

Patients from out of town requiring occupational therapy follow-up. These patients may be limited to 2 nights stay only.

What Will It Cost?
